She didn't take over your kitchen you only misunderstood her. You're supposed to allow her to cook the stew while you learn the recipe from her so you can start cooking the exact stew for your family. I personally would allow her to cook it more than once before she leaves.
I'm currently having issues with my husband because of his m0ther. She came for holidays. My husband told me that there's a unique way his mom cooks her local stew with fresh fish & they usually enjoy it when they were kids. That he wants his mom to cook that kind of stew
