This month, Team CMS kicks off our “Carnival New Year” with a series that highlights Caribbean women who are championing our cultural footprint on a global stage. So happy to spotlight @MissRheaDawn for her incredible music ambassadorship for the people of Barbados. 🇧🇧🎉✨
Rhea Layne (@MissRheaDawn) is redefining what it means to be a Carnival creative in Barbados. Through music, advocacy & intentional storytelling, she’s helping shape a Crop Over that’s bold, inclusive & deeply Bajan. @industry_360 #WomenWhoRule #RheaLayne #CropOver
My favorite genre of Black Girl Magic! 🥰✨
45-year-old Venus Williams just became the second-oldest woman to win a single match, defeating 23-year-old Peyton Stearns
Good morning. I hope the library is closed so you can rest from reading 🤣😂
Good morning ☀️
also, i think some "youngers" are witnessing an actual media rollout for the first time, got interested, discovered their album/discography and chose to pick up a thesaurus. also, thankful that genius (kinda) picked up where allmusic[dot]com left off.
I feel like the reason why The Clipse album has been doing so well is because we’ve been lacking so much LITERACY in Hip-Hop. Look at the way we are dissecting bars + being wowed by the art of elevated storytelling. Pusha T and Malice are brilliant on so many levels. We all won.
Honestly this is a fair take. 🙏🏾
We haven’t been packing literacy, it’s just that it hasn’t been pushed in the mainstream. Spitters never stop spittin, but a lot of listeners stopped caring about spitters. They’re not doing anything different from a Currensy, or Willie the Kid, or Boldy James, or Freddie Gibbs
Slick Rick, The Clipse, Raekwon, and Tyler, all with full album BANGERS... in 2025?!!... WTF! and thank you. 🥹

You must be new here. Welcome! 🥰
If you weren’t dissecting bars till now then …

All of the literary techniques , the rhyme schemes and patterns , real fucking hip-hop man . I love it

It's the antithesis to all the "it's not that deep, it's a vibe, as long as the beat's good" dumb ass takes about music

We got JID and a few other projects coming in a few weeks too. Everybody awake! 🥰
I was wondering if you got in on this. I literally can't stop listening, it's like they put crack in it (literally 😂😂). Hip Hop is in a great place rn.
Exactly. And that doesn’t mean that those kinds of rappers don’t exist beyond Kendrick and The Clipse. It just means that many people felt like they hadn’t seen much of it of late - and it’s valid. Both things can be true at the same time.
Its true the real thinkers were thirsting and Kendrick activated something we had gave up on
‘Birds Don’t Sing’ is a very beautiful, very painful, very important song. 🖤
Birds Don’t Sing had me on the verge of tears
