tomorrow 6/20, i'm presenting this paper at #alt_FAccT, a NYC local meeting for @FAccTConference β¨π€ paper session #3 π€β¨ π½1:30pm June 20, Fri @ MSR NYCπ½ β¬οΈ our #FAccT2025 paper is abt βwhat if ur ChatGPT spoke queer slang and AAVE?β ππ bit.ly/not-like-us
what if AI played the role of ur sassy gay bestie π³οΈβπ or AAVE-speaking friend ππΎ ? you: plan a trip? π€ AI: βYasss queen! letβs werk this babeβ¨π β LLMs can talk like us, but it shapes how we trust, rely on & relate to themβ¦π§΅ π£ our #FAccT2025 paper: bit.ly/3HJ6rWI
π΅βπ« Long-context human-AI planning with LLMs struggles when users have to manually manage all the context in messy chats (e.g. with ChatGPT). Meet π‘JumpStarter: task-structured context curation for better, collaborative planning with LLMs on complex tasks. 𧡠(1/n)
updated my site in time #CHI2025 π―π΅πΌ not presenting, but happy to chat about: π¦ FeedQUAC: ambient creativity tool with real-time audio feedback (with autodesk) π DoubleAgents: AI agents that learn human values/policies by simulating test cases & co-planning, executing them!!

𧩠How do we go from examples to structural insight? π Surface variation in real-world examples makes it hard to spot deeper patterns. β¨ Introducing Schemex: a system for discovering structure through interactive abstraction & contrastive refinement. πarxiv.org/pdf/2504.11795
hooray!! @lydiachilton π whos advisor is this!!!! queen is queeninng β she deserves it!!! one of the smartest and nicest HCI researchers in the world ;)

π¨β οΈRecently reviewed a paper that copied my CHI '24 work, ReelFramer arxiv.org/pdf/2304.09653, almost word-for-word. And they even cited ReelFramer! π± A friend mentioned they came across a similar situation. Is this common? What should the community do to prevent such incidents?
Super excited to share that my first, first-author paper has been accepted to #CHI2025ββ βπΈπ―π΅! Our system, DynEx bridges design and engineering to help users flesh out their ideas through a Design Matrix and generate code to create a functional app π₯οΈ π: arxiv.org/abs/2410.00400
After a long break from twitter, I plan to take an even longer one. Instead, I'll be on the cozy web [1], and maybe mastodon. Send me an email! Also: I am recruiting PhD students to join me at the University of Sydney. Check my website for details. [1] contraptions.venkateshrao.com/p/the-extendedβ¦
