Helping build a society that's trauma-informed. We all need strong internal teddy bears to fight the sabre tooth tigers. Speaker, trainer, researcher, agitator
The Parents Circle is a group of bereaved parents from both Palestine and Israel, who seek to end the cycles of loss & blood shed. You can read more about their courageous efforts here. theparentscircle.org/en/pcff-home-p…

As a longtime humanitarian who has battled famines and hunger crises, I fear that starvation in Gaza has now passed the tipping point and we are going to see mass-scale starvation mortality. A thread on famine momentum, famine response, and what it means for Gaza today.
Doctors and health officials report wave of hunger deaths in Gaza on.ft.com/46iUoK6
The Israeli refrain that Hamas is causing the famine only rings true if you believe it's worth starving tens of thousands of innocent people to achieve a military aim. If you know children are starving and you don't let aid through: you're starving them!
Gaza starvation so severe people are ‘walking corpses’, UN says channel4.com/news/gaza-star…
To put this in context, the terrible 1929 Hebron Massacre, one of the worst tragedies suffered by the Jewish community in Mandate Palestine, resulted in 69 innocent deaths. It has been the subject of many books and studies, and is still constantly referenced. Now around double…
The killing in Gaza continues Yesterday, July 21, the Israeli military killed 134 people, 85 of whom were waiting for humanitarian aid. ישראל ממשיכה את ההרג בעזה. אתמול, 21.7, הצבא הישראלי הרג 134 בני אדם - מתוכם 85 בעת שחיכו לסיוע הומניטרי
Nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing makes killing children acceptable
Nothing justifies killing more than 20,000 children. Nothing justifies burning children alive. Nothing justifies starving nearly a million children. Nothing. Not self defense. Not human shields. Not a damn thing.
Do they just not know how the body, mind, and society responds to starvation? It is mass torture. Everything breaks down. Not only physically, but psychologically and socially. It is one of the worst crimes that humans can commit to other humans.
I don’t know how anyone can get up, function, go to work, and act as if all is normal and fine while millions of people are being starved to death by Israel, just across the Mediterranean. And all with the knowledge our government is complicit. It is unbearable.

#FierceCuriosity Crossing bridges takes courage.
The Lao Jun Shan Tengyun Plank Path,
Today a kind person said to me: "Thanks for speaking up about #Gaza. I admire your courage." I thought: How did we reach a world where saying "Stop starving babies to death" needs courage. This is heinous on the part of Western political leaders. Heinous.
We talked about attachment style pairings in last week's 2-day residential in Fife. Avoidant & ambivalent pairings are so very common. Here's a thread on why. @LynburnNurture @WellbeingInFife
Making a video about this soon but: the reason why avoidantly attached people sometimes seem super-secure when you first met them is bc avoidance unconsciously performs what it believes to be the 'right' thing at all times, whereas secure attachment doesn't & is more honest from…
We are delighted to say that we'll soon have a lovely announcement to make about the film #Junkie, produced by @Socialsessions6 & Hawaii50. Put 1st Oct in Dundee in your diary! @realdcameron youtube.com/watch?v=GXolpd…
This is exactly what Vasu Reddy studied - babies' capacity to tease! It starts long before they can talk. It says so much about their ability to "read other minds". That's why she was featured in May's #Trevarthen course. Here's a link to the research: pure.port.ac.uk/ws/files/24507…
Check out this little comedian. Children learn to appreciate humor from their earliest days, smiling and laughing in response to playful interaction with loved ones. But between 7-12 months, many begin to initiate the jokes themselves - repeating unexpected sounds and actions…
See all these authors, based in Scotland & dealing in some way or another with trauma in their work? There are more on my shelves! I have a budding idea... @lokiscottishrap @craig_carol @LynburnNurture @anam_alba @witchesofscotl1 @RuthBoreham @lathan_miss

The abstract painter known as The Sun. I'm #grateful for the new exhibition she paints in my flat every morning.

Excellent point. Part of the problem with understanding the impact of trauma on healthy development is that most of us don't understand healthy development.
"he comforted his child before pleading with ICE agents." Children. Children. Children.
"Daddy, police!"—ICE shatter window to arrest father outside child’s school. "Yeah, that’s police," he comforted his child before pleading with agents. "There is a baby in the car. Is it hard to wait for three minutes?" Agent breaks car window at 1:16 into video to drag man…
I'm on the side of Palestinian civilians who are being slaughtered and starved by Israel, facilitated by the West. Like these children. You have no answer to the fact that these crimes are armed and facilitated by the West. Because there is no answer.
I said 'sides with', as in 'you are on the side that does this systemically'. I doubt you support them, especially in the act of murdering gays. Of course I can refute the conclusions of those people. It's just so basic, Owen. Imagine if I went around tweeting at black people,…
This is terrific news. @lokiscottishrap thoughts on modern trauma discourse are valuable to us all.
