🎙️📚 I've recently started hosting for @NewBooksNetwork and wanted to compile these wonderful conversations with authors producing important (❤️🔥!!) work on South Asia, Politics, and History. A thread 🧵
I interviewed @CharlesMGlass about his latest book Syria: Civil War to Holy War? (2024, @orbooks) at @NewBooksNetwork - It's a gripping, thorough, and insightful account of the conflict in Syria from 2011 to today. Give this a listen 📚! newbooksnetwork.com/syria-in-ashes

Sally Rooney: “I can only say that I admire and support Palestine Action wholeheartedly – and I will continue to, whether that becomes a terrorist offence or not.”

Alive like never before, I know me, like never before, I know what I fight for, and what an honour to fight for, Palestine. Here in the Heart of my city, my heart, I can't belong anywhere else, it's where I start and will end, and what an honour to have this end.

& her author interviews are so good and thoughtful
dua lipa is cool because she has the only celebrity book club that bothers to find good books instead of picking something that's already a bestseller or going through romance slop

Hindu nationalists co-opt Dalit leaders into Hindutva without addressing the structural inequalities of caste. And Indian liberals co-opt Muslims/minorities into the Indian national project while they remain structurally oppressed. These guys are insufferable.
That was an outstanding briefing. And I ought to add: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh aren't just soldiers. They are a living negation of the very premise upon which Pakistan was invented.
excellent femonationalism // deplorable journalism
Operation Sindoor briefing done by two women officers from two different religions- Col Sofiya Qureshi and Wg Cdr Vyomika Singh. Excellent messaging.
