📜New @AlexPodyssey AESOP I - Virtue Signaller or Fake News Merchant?🏛️ Part 1 of 3: Stories have had a moral for as long as we've had stories. So why is Aesop, enduringly, one of the few moralists we accept can dish it out? 🎧 open.spotify.com/episode/0lP7PE… 🍏 podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/ale…
Remember that "peaceful" protest by "locals" outside the Bell Hotel, Epping last week? Well it wasn't as peaceful as onsite reporters Jaymey McIvor and Adam Brooks would have you believe. Here's footage of those "locals" visciously assaulting an anti-fascist counter prostester.
Over the past week, protests outside The Bell Hotel, housing asylum seekers, escalated into violence. While locals raised legitimate worries, far-right agitators hijacked the demonstrations. Here’s what happened, who’s behind it, and why it matters.
Stop the yachts.
“We are basically serfs. Doffing our cap in such a grotesque way that people can’t even see through this bullshit-peddler, private schoolboy banker, who now tells them that immigrants are the problem and not the entrenched privilege from which he and his ilk have benefited.”

“The [Johnson] gov't added to the mistrust, by cynically taking in record numbers of migrants to counterbalance a disastrous Brexit. He knew the economy was going to suffer significantly and the easiest way of that not happening was to shove an extra million people onto the GDP.”

- No. Not your party. - Oh no, I know. It's our party if we're talking about it. It's your party when addressing people who may join. - No, you haven't decided whether it's your party at all. - But I have. I founded it. - IT'S NOT YOUR PARTY, OK? [beat] - Can I cry if I want to?

Meanwhile, Farage admits he was "slightly inaccurate on the details", but says "the gist" of what he was saying was right. Because, APPARENTLY, bussing people to a protest is fundamentally the same as maintaining the peace when a group that wants to protest turns up. Snake.
Oh, look. Nigel Farage is outright lying in order to divide people, cause another summer of violence, and cost local businesses and the taxpayer millions in damage. What a "patriot"!

What a brilliant example of 2025. Telling someone who lives in London to "google" London, for proof that it is some invented dystopian hellscape. Something that I can disprove by walking to the local bakery, or taking the tube every day, or just... looking out the window.
They are in London. They even shit on the stairs of the trains station. Google it.
These people need a mental health intervention, not a ministerial brief.
Meet the Reform UK councillor, just appointed to their top law and order team, who thinks trains are full of people in balaclavas, knives are hidden in every bush, and New York and Chicago are safer than London. ~AA

Very good to hear. Incidentally, I am astounded that @BBCNews cut away from the most important quarterly bit of PM scrutiny 10m before in ended. Especially after showing the Farage presser live and in full. Don't remember them ever doing that when Johnson - or any PM - was on.🤨
PM tells @EmilyThornberry at Liaison C'tee that EU Summit is yearly "not just to monitor progress, but to go further". Hints that medicines and artists' touring visas are very much on the menu of "common sense changes... that have very little to do with the vote in 2016". ~AA

Why racism is a critical avenue of inquiry of its own, even in the context of a healthcare area with many other issues. Too easy to shrug "weeell, maternity care falls short for many". The "how" and "why" matter. The generic may not solve the specific. Superb, Dr @karenjoash. ~AA
"The pandemic saw the biggest sacrifice from one generation for another, since the war. Then we said to children: off you go to navigate the [mental health fallout] on your own." An MP with empathy? IT'LL NEVER CATCH ON! Well done @ChrisMurrayMP. A touching contribution. ~AA
