Biologist researching malaria parasites, drug resistance, gene expression
Hey @KingOfPathogens we had a terrific Immunology session at BioMalPar this week in Heidelberg. @McfaddenGeoff even asked a immunologyish question. But am I correct in understanding from the session that you folks are still not all *100%* agreed about how we aquire immunity?

Malaria colleagues, please do join in this online game of “Where’s Wally?” at BioMalPar, as well as the advanced version for we ageing members: “Where’s Wally’s growing bald patch?” #EMBLMalaria

Congratulations @SophieLCollier on a fantastic presentation on organelle inheritance in malaria parasites at BioMalPar #EMBLMalaria @EMBLEvents

Go Long @lkhuynh_. Fancy cell biology and fancy microscopy on artemisinin resistance in Plasmodium parasites at the BioMalPar conference #depremoldu EMBLMalaria @EMBLEvents

Very fortunate to have Abdoulaye Djimdé @djimdeab kicking off the BioMalPar XXI meeting @EMBLEvents #EMBLMalaria

Somewhat waylaid, but still on my way to BioMalPar by whatever mode of transport I can find #EMBLMalaria

BioMalPar bound! Looking forward to meeting up with malaria folks soon in Heidelberg #EMBLMalaria embl.org/about/info/cou…

Join us online tomorrow to hear two @AS_Para talks on malaria for World Malaria Day. Frankie Lyons @WEHI_research talking about Transmission-blocking nanobodies and Ashton Kelly @IMBatUQ on Immune heterogeneity in NK cells during controlled infection parasite.org.au/blog/asp-onlin…
Thanks to our @UniMelbMDHS SBS Early-Mid Career Researchers Association @sbsemcra and panellists for running an inspiring event for #InternationalWomensDay. Great messages on “Amplifying Brilliant Career Moves”. #IWD2025

Is it only parasitologists that are happy to sit through one talk on maggots, then another on worms in horseshit before an evening meal together? What other weirdos do this? Great to get together with the Melbourne @AS_Para folks- thanks @LucasHuggins3 for organising.

Terrific scheme - particularly note the support for longer study travel by, for example parasitologists and other biomedical scientists

Last day to submit an abstract for BioMalPar 2025, don’t miss out
📢 Last chance to submit your abstract for #EMBLMalaria! Make sure to get yours in by 25 February 📝 Join us in this crucial endeavour to understand the biology of the malaria parasite and to advance global health 🌍⚕️ 👉🏻 s.embl.org/bmp25-01-x Topics 🦟 Epidemiology 🦟…
Wonderful overview at #Lorneiandi of the current status and future threats of influenza from Patrick Reading @WHOCCFluMelb @UniMelbMDHS. Some scary scenarios, lucky to have such dedicated and clever people working on this @The_VIIN

As usual, some lovely microscopy from @LiffnerBen, showing unprecedented detail of how Plasmodium sporozoites get made and how they work. #Lorneiandi @The_VIIN

Folks, don't forget to submit your abstract for BioMalPar XXI by 25th of February.

Nice talk at Lorne I and I from @MadelineDans presenting some impressive and very collaborative med chem and parasite work from @Sleebs_Lab, @ANUToxoLab, @KRogers1001 @CowmanAlan, Adele Lehane @ANU_RSB_BSB and many others @The_VIIN #LorneIandI

Impressive cell biology from @FlorenceYek at the Lorne infection and immunity conference explaining how Legionella hijack host cell mitochondria @The_VIIN #Lorneiandi

Well done @lkhuynh_ on a schmick presentation of his work on artemisinin resistance in malaria parasites at the Lorne infection and immunity meeting. Beautiful imaging! @The_VIIN #Lorneiandi

Getting ready for the immunology session at the Lorne Infection and Immunity meeting. Sometimes the air conditioning in the auditorium is quite strong so it pays to dress warmly @The_VIIN #lorneiandi #safetyfirst
