Under the new law, the UK media regulator Ofcom is poised to label Wikipedia as a “Category 1” platform. This would impose the strictest content rules possible - such as: - age verification for users - identity verification for contributors - censorship of ‘harmful’ topics.
Wikipedia is currently in a legal battle with the UK government to try and stop the platform being censored in the UK - or even completely blocked - thanks to the Online Safety Act.
I need people outside of the UK who think its only "Gooners" who are mad over this new ID law to understand that the Online Safety Act doesn't just apply this authoritarian horseshit to porn, its ANYTHING that can be vaguely classed as "adult". Violence, alcohol, drugs etc.
All accounts that are "illegal" right now. This also include war news/alcohol/guns/certain political accounts/porn/some cosplays etc. Basicly anything they deem bad. All over EU. Oh and they are trying to put this BS on Wikipedia...
