Veteran ABC News photographer Melissa Young was recognized in the White House press briefing room, ahead of her retirement after 44 years. Young has covered the White House since the Reagan administration and was one of the first female photojournalists in the press corp.
Wire service reporters have been covering presidents -- for local newspapers, local television & radio stations -- for as long as ANY outlet has covered presidents. To exclude the wires is to restrict access to readers/viewers/listeners of local news.
