I write about Pitt athletics for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette | he, him | be where your feet are

Cleaning out the notebook from ACC Kickoff:
ACC Kickoff takeaways: Pat Narduzzi touts Pitt's transfer portal triumphs post-gazette.com/sports/pitt/20…
Officially out of office for the rest of the week. My colleagues will assist me with emptying the proverbial clip of ACC Kickoff content over the remainder of the week. If you have any complaints, please send them to @_NoahHiles.
Sobbing in the middle of Midway Airport thinking about Carlos Narvaez.
Pat Narduzzi said today QB Cole Gonzales, who transferred in from Western Carolina and Oklahoma, could have 2 years of eligibility left (including this season) but for now Pitt is assuming it's his last year of college football.
An interesting thing Pat Narduzzi said today: he wants a ban on the hip drop tackle in CFB like the NFL. Added that Pitt lost 2 players (Eli Holstein, Daniel Carter) for the season on plays where defenders used hip drop tackles.
You hear a lot of absurd things covering a college football conference's media days but by far the most absurd thing I heard all week was that the Charlotte Airport offers flights to Greensboro.
Pitt's new All-American duo led them into ACC Kickoff with the task of building on remarkable seasons in front of them. From underdogs to superstars, Kyle Louis and Des Reid's journeys stand out. "I'm trying to be different ... I have to be different.” post-gazette.com/sports/pitt/20…
Well, I think I’ve found my new wallpaper for when @TomLuginbill calls me.
So long from Charlotte. Stay tuned to post dash gazette dot com as I clean out my various notebooks from the past couple of days.

#Pitt needed toughness, experience, and a true post presence. Dishon Jackson checks every box. The Iowa State transfer could be the steady force this Panthers team needs. post-gazette.com/sports/pitt/20…
Pop Tarts Bowl is sponsoring “snack hour” at ACC Kickoff today.
Desmond Reid on expectations for this season: "There is no ceiling."
Narduzzi: "Eli Holstein has had a great offseason. ... I can't tell you he was fully healthy ... But he is back, about 224 pounds, ripped up. ... We've got a ton of respect for him. There's pressure on him."
Narduzzi was asked about wanting to play West Virginia and Penn State. Drink.
Narduzzi: "We did not lose anyone we wanted to keep in the transfer portal."
Pat Narduzzi: "Last 10 years, there's only been 3 teams to win an ACC Championship and we're one of them."
Pat Narduzzi is at the podium. Highlighted coming into 2025 with a "fresh, healthy" team and the benefit of continuity on his coaching staff.
