Tracing transmission and evolution of multidrug resistant pathogens. Use genomics for precision treatment.
Great start in our PANGenS week in Windhoek. Pushing genomic surveillance in Africa
📌Day 2: The morning session began with an introduction to bacterial typing. This was followed by a hands-on tutorial for Mtb reference mapping pipeline and cgMLST allele calling using SeqSphere led by Dr ir. Margo Diricks.👩🔬👩💻👨🔬

Nice and productive visit of colleagues from CERMEL (Gabon) in Borstel for training in tNGS and WGS of M. tuberculosis strains and discussion of TB sampling progress within the PANGenS project. @PANGenS2023 @FZBorstel @CERMEL_Gabon
Day 3/5: 📌Excerpts from the last lecture about@mrcunitgambia #biobank facility, daily operation of the bank and sample collection and processing lectures by Mathurin Diatta (Biobank manager),Demba Sanneh(Biobank supervisor) and Sheikh Jaru (of Laboratory management department).
📌Session 2 was led by Prof. Anita Ghansah (senior research fellow @NMIMR_UG )on the Governance of biobanks. She delivered on operational structures, key components, legal frameworks, governance models of biobank governance and QMS and the issues of ethics, rights and privacy.
Fantastic meeting of the SubSaharan SeqNet Consortium. Thanks for the fanstic collaborations and the push to transform TB diagnostics and surveillance by sequencing technologies

📌Final session was on the Fundamentals of Health Research Data Security and Data Sharing “The security of health data is fundamental in health research”- Badou Gaye @mrcunitgambia Ensuring integrity in research, its practices and the protection of the privacy of participants.
Demba Sanneh Biobank supervisor @mrcunitgambia led the 3rd session on “Quality- Policies and SOPs”. Lecturing on development of effective Biobanking SOPs, key elements of SOPs, ensuring SOP compliance and Biobank policy-sample use, storage and retention and compliant disposal.📝
