Last week we welcomed Patrons and the congregation to the Deanery to celebrate their support and the community. Thanks so much to those who joined us and viewed the recent renovations.



The Venerable Samantha Brazier-Gibbs, Archdeacon of Ipswich, was installed at the Cathedral today. She was installed in the stall of St Edward, King and Confessor, and joins the Cathedral’s College of Canons.

Our Summer Organ Festival has two final dates in September with William Whitehead and Victoria Ulriksen joining us. Recitals begin at 5.00 pm. There is no charge to attend but there will be a retiring collection. Please book via: eventbrite.co.uk/e/summer-organ…

Labyrinths are a spiritual exercise encouraging reflection and contemplation. The wildflower labyrinth in the Abbey Gardens is behind the ruins of the crypt. Come along Sunday afternoon, July 20 or August 17, 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm for a blessing on a mini-pilgrimage.


Due to essential maintenance, the Cathedral centre toilets and Pilgrims' Kitchen will be closed on Monday 21 & Tuesday 22 July. We apologise for any inconvenience these essential works may cause. Closest public toilets are just a short walk away in the Abbey Gardens.

A big thank you to those who joined us last month for our St Edmund bus and walk pilgrimage. The 9 mile journey from Thetford to St Helen’s Holy Well, and on to Brandon was enjoyed by all!

This afternoon, Monday 14 July, Evensong will be sung by our visiting choir, Choral Voices, from Groningen in the Netherlands.

Bury St Edmunds Art Society invite you to their annual Summer Exhibition in the Cathedral Cloisters, running Tuesday 15 July to Sunday 27 July from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm. Paintings and cards for sale. Pop along and support our local artists! 🎨
