3DO, PS1 & Atari Will
@ste_mega
🎮 Real hardware. Obscure systems. Bad takes. 📼 Last of the 3DO Fanboys. “A misunderstood genius of poor purchasing decisions.”
I collect ‘70s, ‘80s & ‘90s consoles. I’m terrible at games, good at hoarding, and apparently allergic to modern hardware. I have more money than sense (£3.87), and I mostly potter about in retro gaming with no real talent or plan.

Not even close. You see, the 'ol CDi can provide some joy, whereas the Pippin is quite simply completely atrocious. It dodges the bullet of the 'worst' console ever, simply because no one owned one. But it is much much worse than any other console. 🤣👍
What is your most regretted gaming purchase?
Back in the '90s, and as far as I was concerned, Namco could do no wrong. People seem to love Ridge Racer Revolution and Ridge Racer Type 4, but I always love Rage Racer. Any other fans?
I'm having a "Japanese Games are Awesome" Day, case in point, Tekken 3. I actually think Tekken 2 is better, but let's keep that between us, eh? 🤫🤫🤣🤣
Street Fighter Zero III. This is why I love Japanese games from this era: They're so damn good, so damn exciting, so well presented. This is bloody brilliant. 😍😍
Anyone expecting TFX on the PlayStation to be super-duper mega magical is in for a disappointment. Below are clips taken from both the Amiga and the PS1, and yeah, I'm not going to tell you which is which, which basically makes my point.
Cosmic Conflict on the Phillips G7000. A cosmic war, if you will, war amongst the stars, a Star Wars, you might say. And no, that's not a Tie Fighter. Actually, this is pretty fun to play. I actually like this a lot. 1978.
Munchkin on the Videopac G7000. Not Pac-Man— oh-no, though a court said it was. So, err, yeah. Released before Pac-Man hit the 2600, Atari sued to block it. Lost. Appealed. Won. Munchkin was eventually pulled from shelves.
Super Cobra on Atari 2600 and Videopac G7000 in an early '80s showdown. The average phone today is about 500million times more powerful (literally) than both these machines, and it was only 40 years ago.
My initial impression of Super Cobra for G7000 (Odyssey 2) is that it's brutal.

Coming soon, the comparison no one asked for, no-one wants and certainly haven't even considered since 1982. Super Cobra on Magnavox Odyssey2 and Atari 2600. I'm confident the world can wait for this exciting event.😂😂

Will, you buffoon, didn't you post a picture of an Atari STe just a few days back? Yes, but not this one. This one is made from parts I already had and the spares or repairs motherboard I bought, that I have brought back to life. Go me!

Wanna be cool? Wanna go where the cool kids go? Wanna do what the cool kids do? Then get yourself a 3DO M2 FZ-21. This is only the second time I've ever seen one for sale. (and I bought the first one!)
A rare potential opportunity; VGE needs a bigger house and studio. I want as big of a down payment as humanly possible. So one of my 3DO M2 FZ-21s could be for sale 😉 contact with serious inquiries only. This is a five figure kind of thing too fyi
I swooned at TFX on the Amiga, gawped at TFX on the PC, but little did I know, it also appeared on the PlayStation. Well, after work today, I shall bask in its wonderment. Or something... 🤣🤣

So, back in the day, which were you? Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat? And remember, lying is a sin, so anyone saying 'both' is likely going to hell, and don't come running to me looking for a character witness when you get to the pearly gates.🤣🤣🤣👍
If, like me, you barely pay attention to anything, you may have missed that R-Type is coming to the MegaDrive, and boy is it gooood. @TheRoboZ fine, fine work here. (and thanks to @Shmups_BR for bringing it to my attention). I LOVE R-type. 😃😃😃theroboz.itch.io/mega-r-type
Chuka Taisen is a beautiful SHMUP on the MSX2. It seems to be "Ukiyo-e", The Floating World of Woodblock Prints, which is a 17th-century Japanese style. Of course, I could be wrong, after all, I am an idiot. LOL 🤣🤣👍
This highlights things nicely. The difference between an MSX1 and an MSX2. The MSX1 footage is emulated because, apparently, I'm cursed. But it makes the point... 🤣🤣
Another MSX2 game Hi No Tori by Konami. I know there is something going on, but I don't know what it is. 🤣🤣
(ignore the glitch) but this is a very impressive game for the MSX2 - Space Manbow.
Not hugely popular here in the UK, the MSX2 is surprisingly powerful. Does anyone have one?
