Hi #Evol2023! I'm recruiting graduate students to join my lab at Mississippi State University! Interested in population and phylogenetic methods, machine learning, or terrestrial gastropods? Let's talk!
Preprint with postdoc Kerry Cobb! When processes (e.g., ghost introgression) are omitted from training data, machine learning approaches are error-prone. Domain adaptation allows accurate inferences of introgression in the presence of unmodeled processes! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
New paper with @snaild_it❗️ You can use paralogs to reduce long-branch attraction! This will be especially helpful when there are no extant taxa that can be sampled to break up these branches. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Updated version of reconcILS, now with more results and more speed (same great accuracy!) 1/ biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
ONE new preprint (led by @Sarthak_mista and @snaild_it), TWO new programs (reconcILS and dupcoal). Check it out: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I'm recruiting students / postdocs to join my new lab at the University of Rochester for Fall 2025 onwards! If you're interested in phylogenetic comparative methods, genome evolution, and/or computational biology, please get in touch! More info: mhibbins.github.io
Many folks know this already but wanted to make an official announcement: I am super pleased to share that I will be starting my lab at Mississippi State University @msstate in Fall 2025! We will be recruiting grad students and a lab tech to start as soon as August ‘25
We're headed to #evolution2024, with a couple of talks from the lab! Postdoc Kerry Cobb, Monday at 10 AM: Accommodating model misspecification when inferring introgression with machine learning Me, Tuesday at 12 PM: Using paralogs mitigates the effects of long-branch attraction
So glad to be back at #Botany2024 If you’re around, come check out my talk tomorrow at 4:30 in the Molecular Ecology section. There are PENSTEMON HYBRID ZONES
