In 1987, Sony introduced the Walkman WM-51, which featured permanently attached headphones that could be wound and stored within the device. It had auto-reverse, Dolby B NR, and supported various tape types.
It always amazes me when I see something so old, yet the colors and shapes are still preserved. It's hard to imagine how many things have not withstood the test of time.
One of the most annoying things I've started seeing among game programmers is a desire to avoid duplication at all costs. Okay, I get that copy-paste is bad. But for the gods' sake, stop pushing common functionality to the base class. There are so many ways to re-use code,…
The two things stopkillinggames will ever achieve. 1. It will obliterate paid online games. You require devs to maintain the game until the last nail in the coffin. Alright. There won’t be any game purchase; it's just a time to play or some other BS. You don’t ride a…
If a movement can’t take legitimate conversation and must resort to blind hate and attacks as they did with you then there must be something they are trying to hide. A good cause should never fear open conversation.
Only Ayn Rand was smart enough to predict that incompetence and an ENVY for excellence will lead to dystopian social outcomes. Orwell thought we'd need total mind control, Huxley thought we'd need a permanently drugged populace, but Rand knew: all you need is resentment
It's simple and it should be more. It's because 24 million people live on less than they make and don't buy things they can't afford. Becoming a millionaire isn't really that hard today in America if you live responsibly. There was a huge study done by Dave Ramsey of…
At least you can focus on anything longer than 10 seconds in video games 😀
I’m near certain that video games are better for you than doom scrolling
One reason simplicity matters: ease of use. If something is complicated under the hood, it's difficult to make an easy to use application on top of it. If the the underlying system is simple, then it's possible to make an easy to use application on top of it.
That’s how I usually approach the development of a gameplay feature. How would I like to test it? How would I like to set it up? What do I want it to feel like? The last one can be altered by the game designer from the start, but I do my best to understand the target feel…
Same for developers. Unless you create a tool for yourself, you're usually not the target audience.
USB C never would have happened if Lightning didn’t come first. Imagine if we settled for MicroUSB
"Always used upscaling" is like a red flag for technical problems. With such advanced hardware on average, there is no excuse for using upscaling for *let me check* 1080p 60Hz.
PC Specs are here. Check what you'll need to run Hell is Us: 🔗 store.steampowered.com/news/app/16207…
Some people might read this and think, that's just not my world, I am stuck in this world where software breaks all the time and everything I build is disposable. Even if that is kind of the case for you, there is still good news, because this isn't an all-or-nothing problem.…
Nowadays, it's hard to find a place that is winning in game development. It looks like all the past champions are no longer champions.
