Normally the highlight of our ringing on the Salisbury Plain is a cool migrant, but today a resident Bullfinch stole the show. Aside from that, migration was okay with 200 birds ringed including a record 38 Garden Warblers.
Itβs a great time to find feathers while walking as many species are moulting rn. Just found this absolute beauty of a pheasant tail feather-extra very welcome dopamine on my mental βelf walk. Was tempted to stick it in my hair bc hedge disco chicken chic is π , but left it forβ¦

Our brains have been wired to focus on threat since we evolved as modern humans. Threat for our ancestors may have been a giant narky sloth but for us it might be Pam in accounts who's super pass agg. If we *consciously* make our brains focus on positive things research shows itβ¦

Just came on a walk for my mental βelf. Spied a woman I know (fellow parent at local primary) & called out, trying to connect to another person & not be an insular recluse like Iβve been for 2.5 years, inviting her over for a chat. I asked after 3 or 4 of her family members,β¦
Small beautiful things I found on the beach when I went there to help my poorly brain yesterday. Iβve collected and arranged precious beach finds like this since I was really small. The process quietens & calms my noisy negative anxious thoughts.

The many 1000s of times people have put me down, incl. family -people who had the need to crush someone else, became way too loud in my head in the last few days & I couldn't hold on to anything good about myself at all. Tbh my mental health was 1/10 yday. I was struggling toβ¦
