Thrilled to share a new film I have made with clients (brain injury survivors & carers) from @HeadwaySurrey, called "Art and Nature: Living with a brain injury". This film is a crucial feature of #ACreativeTransformation. Please watch & share: headwaysurrey.org @HeadwayUK
First sightings in Sicily, where I’m giving a talk at Università di Messina, a conference exploring 'genius, madness and creativity'. I present #ACreativeTransformation, my own breakdown, breakthrough and infinite creativity. Expect many pictures. It will be a colourful few days!

The 2nd in the provocative trilogy of papers on #madness, #creativity & #sense I wrote with Roxana Baiasu is out in Italian philosophy journal “Iride”. We find meaning and sense in #madness (both vulnerable and resilient). This is #ACreativeTransformation. rivisteweb.it/doi/10.1414/11…

Read 'My #mad visions', new in @IMSJournal. It takes the reader from remnants of my psychosis to brilliant ideas from Foucault, Stiegler & Nietzsche. We understand how art provides care and helps me cope with my hallucinations, as #ACreativeTransformation. …j.journals.publicknowledgeproject.org/index.php/imsj…

We celebrated the end of #ACreativeTransformation #ACT2 (and hopefully the start of something bigger) at @HeadwaySurrey, screening the powerful, intuitive, raw film we have made—“Art and Nature: Living with a brain injury.” Watch the film, see more here: acreativetransformation.org/act-2/film-art…

The idea that antipsychotics do not provide clinically meaningful benefits in acute treatment of psychosis is so disconnected from scientific & clinical evidence that I consider contorted arguments for it as a proxy for one’s ability to engage in supercharged confirmation bias.
I wrote a new article about alternatives to A&E for mental health which is published in @bmj_latest today. Any shares appreciated!
The NHS recently announced it will open specialist mental health centres as an alternative to A&E. But patients don’t always present with cases that fall neatly into “mental” or “physical” boxes, says @jamesldowns, and this risks reinforcing the divide bmj.com/content/389/bm…
From #ACreativeTransformation at #Coconuts in Leuven, Belgium. An experimental, playful, moving event to launch the new magazine. A treat to see #madness and #philosophy friends. I enjoyed Leuven’s narrow, vertical streets, towering Gothic architecture. Thank you Coconuts 👀🥳🙌
1/2 A patient tells me that the auditory hallucinations are unwanted, distressing, & disabling. He finds the psy-medication to be helpful, with no significant side effects. According to antipsychiatrists I should tell him to avoid the medication because the illness is a blessing
Early Eurostar to Brussels, then Leuven, to give a fairly radical talk for the big launch of #Coconuts ❤️🥳👀

Dr. Albert Powers of #yalepsych has been studying how people who hear voices may exert control over the voices — turning them on and off. He spoke to @undarkmag about his work. tinyurl.com/3rb7meu8
Such a proud moment - speaking at the Houses of Parliament during the APPG for Acquired Brain Injury meeting last week. headway.org.uk/news-and-campa…
Our Action for Brain Injury Week (ABI Week) campaign, On a Good Day, reached the heart of UK politics as we joined parliamentarians for a cross-party meeting focused on acquired brain injury.
#ACreativeTransformation Session 4 at the Neurorehabilitation Unit, @QSNeurosurgery: "Unlocking the Imagination". The learning lesson of today: Let's just paint. That does the magic. Patients began to tell their stories, using oil pastels, watercolour and gouache. What a session.

Snippets from @HeadwayUK #ABIWeek campaign in the Houses of Parliament, Westminster. What a privilege. I will post more about this when I have decompressed it. For now I’m on the way home feeling grateful, hopeful and exhausted. What an awesome few days.

Looking slightly disheveled, I’m at the Neurorehabilitation Unit, National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, for #ACreativeTransformation art workshop with inpatients (number 3). Today is about the senses!

A rich workshop at @BirminghamU examining the brain, psychosis & AI technology with lived experience, psychiatry, neutopsychiatry, research, education & computer science. I felt grateful to be heard, sharing remnants from my own hallucinations. This is #ACreativeTransformation.
