A little less than 28 hours before deals can be officially signed. Defacto deadline for the Pistons to expand the Schroder S&T is tomorrow at noon. Kings could decide to draw it out if they need to for Kuminga, but most likely a resolution comes by tomorrow
Another Pistons candidate off the board
Free agent forward Jabari Walker has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, source tells ESPN. Walker spent his first three NBA seasons in Portland, appearing in 188 games.
Not the biggest detail in the latest sad story about Malik Beasley, but I suspected this might be the case. Yet more evidence that Langdon is prioritizing short deals and that could be part of the reluctance to add Malik Monk. Via @TheAthletic

He signed Tobias to a short deal, LeVert to a short deal, Robinson to a short deal. Seems like he wants maximally tradable contracts so he can swing a big deal if it presents itself.
I think if Langdon really wanted Monk, the deal would be done already. It feels like while he might like the player, he wants nothing to do with the $60 million over three seasons owed to him. He might be outsmarting himself, but that is my read on things.

Hypothetical. Tobias Harris fouls out in the third quarter. One of those nights where Ausar and Ron's lack of shooting means they can't be trusted in crunch time. Who plays power forward?
Let's have some fun. Imagine Troy Weaver was in charge of the Pistons entering this off-season. What moves would he have made with Detroit's free agents, other signings, and any trades?
I wrote about the first 24 hours of free agency for the Pistons, who need to replace 500 made threes somehow. detroitbadboys.com/2025/7/1/24459…
Alright. Going to sleep. So I expect that sign and trade to land any minute now.
Not sure if you're underselling or overselling it. On the one hand, they were already a below average 3-pt shooting team last season and still fielded a top 10 offense. On the other, how much worse is the shooting without Beasley???
That last sentence is enough to keep a grown man up at night The LAST thing this team needs is to be a below average 3pt shooting team again. #DetroitBasketball
If you add Monk along with LeVert, you certainly don't need a traditional backup PG (or have much use for Sasser). And as much as they are duplicative, LeVert does offer some real size, which the Pistons do need on the wing (from someone who can also score).
Someone explain the case for Monk on this Pistons team. Had two outlier years as an efficient perimeter shooter, otherwise he is an effective driver. He'd be effective inside the perimeter, but the Pistons need spacing. How does he work with one or more of Cade Ivey LeVert Ausar
Things I like about the Caris LeVert signing: Can hold up defensively as a small forward Can get his own on offense Will be the third(?) best passer on the team Things I don't like: Gets his own via mediocre offense Not reliable from deep Doesn't really rebound
Pick up the damn phone, Cade
Hawks star Trae Young reached out to Kennard and Nickeil Alexander-Walker this evening to help recruit them to the franchise, sources said. Two big wing gets for the Hawks.
You can't lose Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr and Dennis Schroder (more than 500 threes combined) and replace him with Caris LeVert. You just can't. Detroit needs to add more.
Wonder what Atlanta is giving up in the deal because the dollar amount is just fine for the Hawks
Free agent Nickeil Alexander-Walker has agreed to a four-year, $62 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, plus a player option and trade kicker, sources tell ESPN. CAA Co-Heads of Basketball Aaron Mintz/Austin Brown and Steven Heumann reached the contract with the Hawks tonight.
Atlanta and Minnesota are in active conversations on a sign-and-trade for Nickeil Alexander-Walker, sources say.
The Caris LeVert move feels like this year's version of the Tobias Harris move. A reasonable deal that is blessedly short, and helps in lots of little ways, but nothing pops off the screen. He's just the bench player version
