What’s better than an absolute mass of flowers? A double mass of flowers reflected in a mirror.

OMG. Bad enough trying to send a lengthy email in Italian before I hit the spellcheck on my English phone. So far I’ve wound up with references to ‘queens’, ‘gorse’, ‘tantalising’, and heaven knows what else!

Looking away from me in some disdain, I feel. But then, would one even want to be wife no.7?

Great to speak last night @Southwarkcathed with these legends - and about another! Thank you @NicolaTallis for organising the event.

Waiting to join a panel at Southwark Cathedral. But worried the peace doves don’t stand much of a chance against Hodge the cathedral cat!

The festival concludes tomorrow night with these three stars: @AlisonWeirBooks, @DrOwenEmmerson & @sarahgristwood on ‘Wolf Hall: Fact or Fiction’. Get your tickets from eventbrite.com/e/wolf-hall-fa… @Southwarkcathed @FellowsAuctions
And - I can vouch for it - an absolutely brilliant speaker!

Woo hoo! Announcement, announcement…Coming October 9 from Batsford Books

Now, that’s the way to send out a book! Except that the ribbon may mask @1642Author Mark Turnbull’s new subject…But that’s ok, I can tell you! Prince Rupert of the Rhine - and a fabulous subject he is, too.

That surely shouldn’t be fully-formed hazelnuts on my tree at the end of…June? August, maybe.

Arrividerla, Venezia! Luckily I have the very best of reasons to know I’ll be back here soon…

The Casino on the Venice Lido looking even more spectacular than it used to during the film festival…

Not necessarily the guest you expect to find on your hotel terrace - but who’s complaining? I gather they have a pigeon problem…

I mean, all the news around the world - but there’s one story today really hit home …
