Ladies and Gentlemen, we are live! Take a look at my top 101 NFL free agents in the article below. Happy to answer any and all questions. I will be highlighting a few projections throughout the day. capandtrade.football/p/top-101-nfl-…
The Packers gave Elgton Jenkins an extension in 2022 worth 8.16% APY as a % of cap at signing to play guard. Today, Zach Tom signed for 7.87% APY as a % of cap at signing to play RT, a more coveted position. Tom’s deal is great for the Packers
This is a bit low for Tom in my opinion, especially because the only guarantees will likely be the signing bonus listed in the report. I think some draft bias hurt Tom here, but this is now a data point for a handful of other young tackles looking for new deals.

The #Packers and OT Zach Tom have agreed to terms on a historic four-year, $88 million contract extension with a max value of $92 million, sources tell The Insiders. The deal includes a $30.2 million Signing Bonus, which is the largest signing bonus for an Offensive Lineman in…
Wow, that is shocking. Definitely one of the largest guarantee voids in NFL history.
ESPN sources: Raiders are releasing defensive tackle Christian Wilkins with the designation of terminated vested veteran. His time in Las Vegas is now over. Due to how Wilkins treated the rehab from his foot injury he suffered last season, the Raiders voided the remaining $35.2…
This doesn’t really move the needle for me, no base value moved up into 2025 or added to the contract overall. We’ll see how achievable the incentives are, but Lawrence is a DPOY-caliber player, so this is an easy resolution for the Giants
Sources: The #Giants have rewarded star DT Dexter Lawrence, adding $3M in incentives to his current deal for 2025. Lawrence is set to make $17M this season, plus the newly negotiated incentives. After another stellar season, NYG does right by its Pro Bowler.
I’m more so a proponent of hold-ins rather than hold-outs. You avoid the fines with a hold in, and avoid an unfortunate situation of going on NFI if you’re injured away from the facility. Hold-ins are also less combative and can be a show of good faith that spurs negotiations
Always fun to watch Mathieu play, glad he’s hanging it up on his own terms. The Saints will now likely rely on rookie Jonas Sanker to step in and start, Sanker was a favorite of mine from this last draft class.
Tyrann Mathieu has announced his retirement from the NFL:
Interesting to see the interplay here between Ed Berry becoming head of football at CAA as Dandy leaves CAA to become an equity partner at A1. Some shuffling atop the agent industry. This continues a trend of consolidation in the agent industry
Huge move in the agent world. High-powered agent Tory Dandy joins @AthletesFirst. All the details 👇👇👇
The average new money APY of the top 5 WRs is 34.94M. The average new money APY of the top 5 CBs is 26.64M. Thats a 31.15% difference between the counterpart markets, but it was a lot more before the Sauce and Stingley deals.
How does this compare to the WR vs. CB markets
I have no analysis, I just feel bad for Trey Hendrickson.
This is an issue revolving around guaranteed money; the Bengals have been willing to offer only one year of it while other top pass rushers - Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, TJ Watt - have gotten three.
I tweeted this back when the Packers were considering moving Tom to center over a yr ago. Now Tom has signed a top 5 RT contract. I’m a huge proponent of letting guys stick at OT as long as possible, and players should really push hard for this at times, it’s a value multiplier.
The highest-paid OT has now doubled the center market. Guys like Barton, Zach Tom, or even guards moving to center should be weary and less accepting of going from OT to OG/C from a contract perspective.
You can add Zach Tom to this list, his signing bonus is 34.3% of his new money value. This of course is a product of the packers not guaranteeing any money beyond a signing bonus usually
Fun trend I noticed about Packers signing bonuses a while back: Rashan Gary: 36% of his total new value was SB Jaire Alexander: 35.7% Kenny Clark: 35.7% Elgton Jenkins: 35.29% X McKinney: 34.3% All hover in the 34-36% range. Obviously, no other guarantees.
From the sounds of this report (x.com/tompelissero/s…) Oladejo may not have gotten any year four salary guarantees after Morrison got 96% of year three guaranteed. We’ll have to wait on details to confirm.
With Morrison almost maxing out third yr salary guarantees, that sets the stage for Oluwafemi Oladejo of the Titans to be the last pick in the 2nd round (52nd overall) to receive some salary guarantees in year 4. Guarantees in year four of rookie deals stopped at pick 44 last yr.
