October is Selective Mutism awareness month. Selective mutism is a complex anxiety disorder that affects pragmatic language. Despite the term “selective,” individuals with selective mutism do not elect where to speak but are more comfortable speaking in select situations.

October is also Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) awareness month. AAC is a way to communicate that doesn't use speech. It can include using objects, symbols, charts, photographs, signing, and electronic aids.

October is also ADHD awareness month. What is ADHD? According to the NHS “Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people’s behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse.”

This October Half Term we will be running our Holiday Club again. These sessions do get booked quickly so if you would like your young person to attend please email [email protected] .
