Back in the 90s we made fun of the Hackers phrase “RISC architecture is gonna change everything”, but it actually turned out to be true
I love using a computer via a terminal that's fronted by an LLM. You can just say vague stuff like "find songs that fit this mood in my Apple Music library, convert them to mp3 and save them somewhere", and it totally works.
When you think about it, it's pretty weird that you go to school to learn a thing and then afterwards everyone has to call you by a different name.

Unison 0.5.42 is out, with some big improvements: * Ability handlers are up to 2-80x faster (See dolio.unison-services.cloud/s/blog/posts/o…) * Typo fix suggestions * And more... github.com/unisonweb/unis…
Effect handlers are great—until you realize your custom Ability is copying the whole call stack. 😬 Here's our compiler engineer, Dan, on how Unison recognizes affine handlers and optimizes them: dolio.unison-services.cloud/s/blog/posts/o…

An older lady struck up a conversation with my 3yo on the bus. The woman shared various “did you know…” thoughts. 3yo listened respectfully and then offered: “did you know that some flowers have bilateral symmetry?” The older lady said nothing after that.
Midjourney hasn't quite figured out how fire works, but this is already pretty good. Prompt: Mick Jagger as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the 1978 production of Dune. He sits on an opulent divan, burning a butterfly.
🔓 Good news for non–VS Code users: the Unison LSP is now available via OpenVSX! Give it a try here: open-vsx.org/extension/unis…
There’s a certain sector of Twitter that loves to hate on AirBnb because it’s not exactly like a hotel or whatever. But honestly, AirBnb is amazing. I’m absolutely happy to strip the beds and take out the trash before I leave in order to get private use of a space like this.
