Today In 1983: Kansas City #Royals legend George Brett unleashes his fury during a game vs. the New York #Yankees at Yankee Stadium in what will forever be known as "The Pine Tar Incident"! #MLB #Baseball #History
I mean I don’t THINK he’s getting traded.
Jac Caglianone has exited the game after his at-bat in the second inning. No word yet on why. MJ Melendez enters in LF, John Rave moves to RF. #Royals

Our draft tracker is now updated. That will likely take care of most of what the Royals can offer over slot - only one unsigned player is left. royalsreview.com/2025/7/17/2446…
An update to this story: #Royals announced they’ve signed 18th rounder RHP Grayson Boles out of St. Augustine (Calif.) HS. Texas recruit but KC gets him for a $500k bonus, per @jimcallisMLB. Projectable prep arm. 21/22 picks signed now + 4 UDFA.
"I want to play on this field, and I want to be a part of this organization and city and fan base." Nine years ago, Sean Gamble watched the #Royals from the outfield seats. Now, the 19-year-old wears the club's uniform as their 2025 first-round pick: atmlb.com/4lQ38MG
More from Picollo in response to @jaylonthompson question on if the club is prepared to stand pat if nothing materializes. "We're not going to try to make something happen that's a bad decision for the organization." Adds "You don't want to go down a rabbit hole." #Royals

Royals playing hard to get.
Seth Lugo is an intriguing name in the trade market, but rival evaluators don't sense the Royals are especially motivated to make a deal. Kansas City could also use this moment to explore an extension with Lugo, to keep their deep well of starting pitching intact.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield building next to Washington Square Park is under contract.
A key piece of a site pitched for a new Royals stadium has a potential new owner on deck (and it's not the team). bizjournals.com/kansascity/new…
There are reports the Royals would like to hang onto Lugo, and I'm sure there is some truth to that. But there is also incentive to let teams know you're not a motivated seller, and they need to bring high offers. Royals could very well trade Lugo, and re-sign him this winter.
Hunter Harvey returns! Would have preferred Bowlan stayed instead of Sam Long.

Royals are said to be interested in Duran, but that's a very heavy price to pay.
The #Padres are in a “never-ending quest to acquire [Jarren] Duran” and offered the #RedSox a package including SP Dylan Cease, C Ethan Salas and another prospect (not SS Leo de Vries) in exchange for Duran, which BOS “quickly rejected,” per @Sean_McAdam
