Mathematician at @QMULMaths. Interested in combinatorics, graph theory and discrete probability. Also Running and French Horns.
We've got a really exciting guest speaker for our next School Colloquium. Prof. Lauren Williams from @HarvardMath is giving a talk on combinatorics of hopping particles and positivity in Markov chains. Full details below, everyone welcome! qmul.ac.uk/maths/research…
A very big welcome to everyone joining the School of Mathematical Sciences this week. We hope you have a fantastic year and we look forward to meeting you all!
Good to see another diamond open access journal in combinatorics being launched. I hope it will be a great success.
Welcome to "Innovation in Graph Theory", a young open access journal on graph theory and its interactions igt.centre-mersenne.org which joined Mersenne! #openaccess #Mathematics #GraphTheory #diamondOA
Interesting thread with some great pictures on the #CambridgePeregrines. Seeing these birds is always a reminder of the mountains -- much-needed in such a flat place as Cambridge!
Hello to all our new followers! It’s been quite a year for the #CambridgePeregrines - in fact, 2023 has been their most successful breeding season to date. Here’s a thread that explains their story so far… 🧵
All at Murray Edwards were deeply saddened at the death on 3 May of Vicky Neale, a much-loved former Fellow of the College and a passionate champion of mathematics, especially for girls. Our tribute to Vicky, ‘an exceptionally vivid person’, is here: murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk/news/vicky-nea…
For London based combinatorialists, here is an opportunity to hear about the exiting recent developments in Ramsey Theory: kcl.ac.uk/events/a-speci…
As usual, a really interesting line-up of speakers for the annual London Colloquia in Combinatorics. @QMULMaths, @LSEMaths

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Last year, we spoke to female mathematicians @QMUL about their participation in mathematics and how we can create safe, collaborative, engaging spaces. Read their words of wisdom here 👇 ow.ly/fbLE50MKHBp
This would indeed be amazing. Any thoughts @wtgowers and @seeker235 ?

Absolutely thrilled to share that I have been awarded a Polar Medal🎖️by HM the King in the UK 2023 New Years Honours list! I am still in shock… sincere thanks to family, friends and colleagues who have supported me. This is for you🤗 #NewYearsHonours #Antarctic 🇦🇶 1/7
It was great to welcome Viresh Patel to our Combinatorics group at @QMULMaths last year. Viresh joins us as a Lecturer in Optimisation and you can find out more about him here: qmul.ac.uk/maths/research…

I recommend this podcast to @QMULMaths students. Lots of good stuff on statistics, probability, and (particularly) public communication -- a thing we don't talk about enough with students. David and Vicky are both engaging communicators of maths and stats.
I'm excited to say there's a new episode of my #MathsPlusCancer podcast now at oxford.shorthandstories.com/maths-plus-can… . This week my guest is the brilliant @d_spiegel. We talked cancer stats, communication of risk & empowering patients. If you find it interesting, please tell your friends!
Our combinatorics group held a small workshop with colleagues from @LSEMaths and @MathematicsUCL . Really fun to get together and do maths with friends, old and new! Hopefully the beginning of some fresh collaborations too.

Congratulations to all! Particularly pleased to see Jozsi Balogh and Gil Kalai (@GilKalai) on this list.
Thirty-nine mathematical scientists from around the world have been named Fellows of the American Mathematical Society for 2023. The names of the class of 2023, their institutions, and citations are available here: ow.ly/1qJA50LwV6j
I enjoyed this entertaining piece by @science_shane on Persi Diaconis - mathematical magician, magical mathematician, and old friend of @QMULMaths. bbc.com/future/article…
