i'm not a Spaniard or someone deeply involved in Spanish history, but it took me about 2.7 seconds to read this and go "ah. yeah no that makes sense" can the deranged lunatics in the comments please accept that the era in question was more complex and than a straight conquest
"Reconquista" is a very politically loaded term that proper medieval historians in spain don't really use anymore (except to critique it)
gaming in 2025 is bizarre because there's stuff like this and then you turn around and there's stuff like Noita where they start you with "LMB to shoot, WASD to move" and send you into a mine and, if you follow the trail of secrets, you *alchemically forge a new fucking sun*
Gamers today are spoiled and as a result they lack tolerance and don't know what an actual bad game is. So any game that isn't the highest of quality with the most realistic graphics, the best controls and 500 hours of bloated content. They label them as mid, trash or slop.
expanded out, there's way way way too much focus on "why is this thing the way it is" and explanatory world building today, and it effectively mutes connection to the characters needed to tell a story because they become secondary to fleshing out explanations to the viewer
the problem with the "alien" "franchise" is that they're trying to build a mythology that explains the alien this is remarkably inferior to the original premise "there is an alien and it kills you"
the degree to which we live in a time of civil peace and order is exemplified by the fact that someone can propose this and not immediately think "oh no if i actually do this i'll be swinging by a tree limb next to my burning house while the mob continues its rampage"
insufficient friction seems easily solvable: have an application fee + security deposit eg $30 to apply, $25 refunded upon rejection why don't companies do this? payment systems have *too* much friction?
this is like if the house of leaves house had depression
Fuck you money
