#OnThisDay 22 July 1812, The Battle of Salamanca. Wellington's masterstrike, after days of marching parallel with Marshal Marmont's army, he saw an opportunity & launched an attack. The British & allies smashed into the French, in brutal fighting, capturing at least two Eagles

A great new podcast episode on @redcoathistory with good friend, all round good guy (except he is an avowed Jacobite) @TDGNavalHistory The War of Jenkins Ear? Why does it matter, what did we learn for future wars? And just HOW brutal was it? Listen: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the…
I was on a podcast! @redcoathistory had me on to talk about the origins of the War of Jenkins Ear and the assault on Cartagena - as well as the sad epilogue on Cuba. It’s the first podcast I’ve done and I really enjoyed it! Thanks Christian! open.spotify.com/episode/7zB23m…

Listen to my appearance on @HistoryRage to hear why there was a lot more to Wellington than just Waterloo & why he was anything but solely a defensive general.
#onthisday 1789 the future Duke of Wellington was born. Seen as defensive, historian @mcribbHistory argues he was anything but, citing his attacks at Assaye & Salamanca Listen to Series 3 guest Marcus make his case: pod.fo/e/13b4a6 #otd #onthisdate #history #podcast
In this video, we walk the battlefields of Barba del Puerco and the Combat on the Coa, where the Rifles and the Light Division cemented their reputation as elite troops. We walk the ground and use first-hand accounts. One for @MarkUrban01 maybe (I'm sure you explored here)
The latest in @redcoathistory 's Peninsular War series, Barba Del Puerco and Combat on the Côa. Two incredible actions, in some of the most beautiful scenery. Together this might be my favourite video so far. We had a blast making it. Hope you enjoy. youtu.be/a19y61PZ0BA?si…
