To guard one’s national identity is not bigotry, it is a duty. As Pope Pius XII affirmed, cultural and spiritual distinctiveness is a sacred inheritance. A nation that refuses to preserve its soul invites dissolution.

Fascism properly denotes an anti-individualist, anti-materialist ideal where the state embodies the national spirit. Today, it’s misused to mean “authoritarian” or “non-liberal.” Most premodern regimes fit that mold but the term itself is now too distorted to be persuasive.

I am, above all, a Catholic. My faith forms the core of my identity, shapes my worldview, and governs my politics. Catholicism ought to order all of society: political, economic, and social. Christ transcends the limits of any manmade political compass.

I was greatly saddened to hear the news about Laura. Despite all our disagreements, I would never wish this kind of tragedy on my worst enemies, let alone fellow Catholics. I pray that Laura may be healed from her cancer and that the Horn family may have peace at this time.
