John Wesley said that he offered men Christ. We don’t offer men Christ. We offer men heaven, or peace with God, or happiness. Jesus didn’t die to make you happy, he died to make you holy.

The Christianity of the Early Church was impressive, ours is impoverished. The Christianity of the Early Church was apostolic, ours is apostate.

Prayer is the hardest work in the world.

Sanctification is not isolation, it’s preservation. It’s incorruption.

God put something in Paul that when you put him in the water for 36hrs in the mediterranean, the waves couldn’t wash it out; and they lashed him 195x and they couldn’t whip it out; and the Devil chased him and couldn’t scare it out of him; and they couldn’t starve it out of him!

David says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.” (Psalm 51:10). In other words: “I don’t want You to merely deal with the sins, I want You to deal with the machinery in here that made me do wrong.”

You can’t love theology. You can only love what can love you back. People say, ‘I love to play golf.' No, you LIKE to play golf. ‘I love to go sailing.' No, you LIKE to go sailing. You can only love where love can come back to you.

There was a life in the Apostle Paul that all the lashes that lashed his back a hundred and ninety-five times couldn’t whip out of him. They threatened him, and couldn’t threaten it out of him. You know what? It’s going to take that to bring this generation back to God.

You come to church with mink and diamonds and everything, but the Lord never sees them. He looks straight through to your heart. You may be in rags on the inside.

There’s no hope for the world unless the Church is revived. She’s the channel through which God comes.

The biggest tragedy in the world tonight isn’t terrorism, the biggest tragedy is a sick Church in a dying world.

It’s a hell of a world outside. Either you shake it or it will shake you. Either you break it down or it will break you down.

We have the most weak, effeminate Christianity the world’s ever had. No wonder nobody wants it! It has no strength! It has no character!

The first word of Jesus was what? “Come unto Me.” His last word is, “Depart from Me.” And he's saying it to preachers! He’s saying it to miracle workers! He’s saying it to men who’ve bled money by the millions of dollars out of people!

There are more prayers in airplanes in a storm than in most churches in the country. Everybody becomes religious.

We confuse knowledge with wisdom, but knowledge isn’t wisdom. Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge.

If you get uncomfortable after an hour of preaching, what are you going to do in the millennium? Or in eternity? Are you going to get bored with angels? Or bored with worship? Or bored with adoration? Or bored with the blazing holiness of God?

If you want resurrection in your life, there’ll have to be crucifixion before there’s resurrection.
