On 18 July 1948, Company Havildar Major Piru Singh of 6,Rajputana Rifles was tasked to attack and capture a Pak-occupied hill feature at Thithwal in J&K. Facing heavy MMG fire, he single-handedly destroyed the enemy MMG nest. #HeroesOfIndia #GallantryAwards
We remember CHM Piru Singh, the Param Vir Chakra awardee, on his "Balidan Diwas" today. He belonged to the Rajputana Rifles Regt and made the supreme sacrifice on 18 July 1948 during the Indo-Pak war.
