New #portfolio reel showcasing a few favorites over the years, revisited for a new look. Currently open to new clients and collaborators, short or long-term. RTs appreciated to help spread the word! #sciencetwitter #neuroscience #scicomm #motionGraphics #dataviz #b3d #sciart
Very proud to see this come out. This was so much work from so many people, and now the science is at your fingertips!
Researchers have created the largest and most detailed wiring diagram of a mammalian brain to date, by mapping cells in a cubic millimetre of a mouse’s brain tissue go.nature.com/3G1eihE
This was a funny experience, my first 'hit' on YouTube where I experienced a whole spectrum of human opinions. The three most common comments were: - Whoever made this music is an idiot - Whoever made this music is a genius - Can it play Doom? youtu.be/blaS5fBJdsE
FlyWire Data Challenge IV: extract dense subgraphs from a simplified wiring diagram of neurons (nodes) and synaptic links (edges). Your reward is a shiny trophy, the 3D IRL kind, and an invite to give a talk on your solution at @PrincetonNeuro this fall. codex.flywire.ai/app/max_clique…
This graphic says so much! Those in big institutions take for granted the motor of outreach and visibility that independents don't have. The need to be your own comms dept. can come across as high ego, but you have to wear many hats. This is why most of my emails go unanswered
Oh, ha ha ha
Forget how your biology textbooks depicted the endoplasmic reticulum. @hhmijanelia scientist Andrew Moore used our open graphics tool AGAVE to create this image showing the ER's outer membrane. The tool borrows animation studio techniques to create realistic light sources.
It's a shot in the dark but is anyone in the #neuroscience community actually using any of my #sciviz videos for teaching? I've had a lot of requests over the years but not really kept track of who and where. If you've found them useful then please DM me, I'd love to know!
I got hit by some rather sudden and extreme financial hardship so if anyone is in need of remote wetlab contract research, strictly BSL1, do let me know. Currently scrambling for gigs. Plant, Bacterial, Archaeal Bioeng Custom Lab Hardware Turn Key Genetic Design Please RT 💚

The brain as it's never been seen before. Scientists have created the largest wiring diagram and functional map of a mammal brain to date. @princetonneuro @JHUAPL @UWGradSchool @bcmfromthelabs @unigoettingen
A friend of mine gave me the advice that one must engage in self-promotion to the point of it being cringeworthy and feeling uncomfortable. Cringeworthy is my middle name! Here's the first animation I made from the #MICrONS cubic millimeter, just before this platform collapsed.
My latest #neuro #visualization: An intuition pump on connectivity in the #brain ~75K #neurons in the #MICrONS mm³. I/O segregated by layers, function is columnar; the cortical column is the unit of cortical computation. A typical #pyramidal cell has over >10K input #synapses.
