The obvious move is going to a heavily paywalled subscription model which destroys the plagiarism factory/chatbot functionality in favor of more boring and narrow technical uses. GPT should obviously cost hundreds of dollars a month and that is also the only solution for OpenAI
- OpenAI/Anthropic lose billions & can't grow into profit - SoftBank in dire straits by funding OpenAI - Stargate (which was scaled back the day Ed wrote this) doesn't have the funds to happen - OpenAI must convert to for-profit or $20b of $30b funding wheresyoured.at/the-haters-gui/
The "winner" is going to be Google. They are the only one with the data, hardware models, the pockets to fund it for a decade. The final dystopian frontier is the models displaying hidden ads in their responses. "What are the best headphones under $200?" and it is just an ad.
