Larry Ellison in Softwar says that when he landed in China in the 2000s he saw cranes everywhere across entire city skylines so it seems a ton of cranes is a necessary condition for a well planned modern city... x.com/i/status/19476…
Anhui, Hefei. The government of this city invested in chips, new energy, and automobiles 15 years ago, Now he has become a winner.
I once said AI won’t take jobs. I take it back. If you refuse to learn and continue to be in denial AI’s taking your job.
saying the obvious right now still feels like heresy to the credentialed. the sunk cost of prestige is a hell of a drug.
So apparently China has several top models now. I can understand India’s manufacturing challenges. I can understand the infra gaps. What I can’t understand is how Indian IT giants sitting on billions have made no real AI progress while their core business is under direct threat.…
Kimi has a distinct writing style that is free of most of the patterns we now associate with AI generated text. Both Kimi and DeepSeek's prose is apparently even more impressive in Chinese. Both of these models have a unique 'voice', quite different from Western AI.
an actuator is a device that takes an input and converts it into physical movement eg a motor that opens a valve or a servo moving a robot arm processors think. actuators do. both are needed for robots. the coming century = energy (actuators + processors)
26 DoF. If it was only made of actuators and nothing else the actuators would cost $227 each.
Every decision you make is scarcity or abundance coded. FOMO is scarcity coded. Avoid triggering a scarcity mindset even when scarcity is real. Especially when it is. That’s basically it.
reading about decision making in primitive societies shaped by scarcity and poor logic: sailors land on an island for trader. get taken hostage by force. against the law. rescue team offers gold. locals want a bribe. a big one. team says take the gold. islanders want more. so…
T-60 months to: 1: contractor startups buying Optimus-style bots 2: training them for tasks like plumbing 3: deploying them on-site
One of my greatest surprises in real estate has been how much time I’ve had to spend begging contractors to show up😅
2 people die daily from fentanyl in SF. 800 deaths in 2023 = 100 per 100k. basically same as gun death rates elsewhere. if you count this stat it likely tops crime rate charts. note that sf gdp/capita is >$300k (one of the places in the world)
This is the fentanyl fold. You can see it in almost every major city in America now. Addiction is the crisis of our generation. @VP @SecKennedy @SaraCarterDC
I wrote about high agency low iq 2x2 Add another axis: power High agency high power but low iq can do lot more damage than low agency can. bureaucracy/poltical class with high agency can do far more damage than just regular old low agency can. this is also a reason why…
Sadly, true for private sector too. Lot of problems can be attributed to incompetence and low agency.
Reminder that India’s problem is not corruption but competence. The bureaucracy lacks competence because genuine expertise comes from experience and application, not rote exams. China - which also has massive bureaucracy and all the associated ills was able to execute as they…
Low interest rate housing + efficient public transport...this will solve like half of the problems middle class is facing today in India.
this metro line runs through a dense underdeveloped area. building restrictions mean low-rises sprawl instead of vertical growth. high-rises near metro would make more sense but are prohibited. we need to push for better urban planning. bgm very related.
