Well...“economic development theory” comes in many flavors... Post-WW2 state interventionism typifies one development theory. Neolib economists had a different theory for the last quarter of the 20th century. It didn't work that well, but it was a theory too.
China has done exactly what economic development theory suggests that all developing countries should do — and it has been really good at it. This is a fact, irrespective of one's value judgments regarding China's rise.

Why do we call it the East China Sea when it touches Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China? It should be called the East Asia Sea because all these countries share it. Putting China’s name there makes it look like China owns it, which is not true.
