Hirosi Ooguri takes the reins of @PMACaltech. Fiona Harrison was a great Chair, and I'm sure Hirosi will be a worthy successor. caltech.edu/about/news/new…
What a pleasure to catch up with Sri and Chari at a Caltech alumni event this weekend! They were undergrads @Caltech when we worked together on quantum algorithms and error correction 30 years ago.
This weekend I was fortunate to reconnect with @preskill and @anchari with whom I spent many hours researching intricate details of qubits, shor’s algorithm, linear ion trap, quantum error correction codes during the “big bang” of quantum computing in the summer of 1995.
Great dinner conversation with SURF students @Caltech! (SURF = Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship).

Mathematician @evamirandag expounds on undecidability in fluid mechanics. This is fun: It's about rubber duckies drifting in the ocean. youtube.com/watch?v=cgNpC-…
Just attended an electrifying session by Prof. @preskill at #QGSS25! ⚛️ His talk, "Feynman’s Dream: Simulating Nature with Quantum Machines", was nothing short of inspiring. @qiskit @IBM #QuantumComputing #Qiskit
Andrew Houck, Director of the Co-Design Center for Quantum Advantage, makes an eloquent case for the value of the National Quantum Initiative Quantum Research Centers. Hey Congress, how's that reauthorization coming along? share.transistor.fm/s/9256a60d

Raymond Laflamme 1960-2025. A great scientist, renowned for his pioneering contributions to quantum error correction. A great leader, founding director of @QuantumIQC. A great colleague and teacher whose legacy continues to inspire us. uwaterloo.ca/institute-for-…
Undergrad @Caltech @yiyiicai has done research in our group for two years, including a senior thesis. She'll be a Gates Cambridge Scholar for a year, followed by PhD studies in computer science @Stanford. Congratulations, Yiyi, you'll be missed!

His group will turn an anharmonic mechanical oscillator into a qubit if @alpsipahigil "acquires a student nutty enough to try the experiment." quantumfrontiers.com/2025/05/25/the…
Bringing our first Heron R3 QPU online: ibm_pittsburgh, inside an IBM Quantum System Two in Poughkeepsie, NY. R3 isn’t a redesign—it’s precision refinement. And it shows: • T1: 300 µs • T2: 370 µs • 2Q gate error: ~5×10⁻⁴ (our best yet) • Layered gate error 100Q: 3.2×10⁻³…
