I'm recruiting a PhD student and a postdoc to work on evolutionary or conservation genomics of long-term demographic studies - popgen with pedigrees. 🐦🧬🖥️ New lab website here: popgenchenlab.github.io. Thanks for passing the word along!
Honored to be featured here and to share my story! There aren’t many Filipinos and Fil-Ams in #EEB, and we often go unseen (like so many others) due to being lumped under the monolith of “Asian”. We’re here, we exist, and we’re doing some cool stuff! #WOCinSTEM #AAPI 🇵🇭🇺🇸

Abstract deadline for #GLAMevogen extended to July 13! #GLAMevogen is an awesome, free, trainee-focused symposium. Register now and please RT!

Heartbroken to unexpectedly lose a long-time friend, collaborator, and mentor. Thank you Reed for everything 💙 You are dearly missed.
The AFO community mourns the loss of Reed Bowman. Reed played a tremendously important role in AFO, it's hard to imagine the association without him. Please keep Reed, his wife, Charlotte, and their children Seth and Mei in your thoughts.
Hey #AOS_SCO23 come learn how long-term field studies allow us to disentangle factors driving population growth at @demo_jemo's talk at 3:30 pm today in Salon E,F! And for yet more Florida Scrub-Jay biology, I'm talking about indirect genetic effects at 4:45 pm in Salon B1.

The #WOCinEEB conference was such a special experience. So grateful to have the privilege of working with these amazing scientists and advocates! Huge thank you to the organizers @BalaChaudhary @KhadLily @CrispySu @ChristineStands for making this week possible!
What an amazing week of collaborative science, intellectual engagement, community building (and fun!) at the #WOCinEEB 2023 Networks of Success Conference @dartmouth. Watch this space for numerous forthcoming eco, evo, conservation synthesis projects!
Super bummed to be missing #Evol2023 - I have so much FOMO! But for those of you in Albuquerque, don't miss grad student @demo_jemo's talk on impacts of immigration & inbreeding on Florida Scrub-Jay demography tomorrow (Sun) at 10 am in Ecology (Galisteo 110)!
How does a population of threatened birds stay stable while becoming isolated? To find out more, and see a synthesis of beautiful long-term demographic, environmental, and pedigree data, come to my talk @Evol_mtg on Sunday at 10:00AM (Ecology) #Evol2023
Today the lab got together for brunch and to start new lab traditions for celebrating both our successes (the win wall 🌟) and failures (rejection piñata 🪅) over the past year. whacking a piñata made from shredded rejection letters is SUPER cathartic. Highly recommend.

Our paper exploring how conservation management impacts inbreeding and mutation load in scimitar-horned oryx is out now in @PNASNews 🔗pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn… 📷Justin Chuven
Amazing two days of sciencing with @popgenchen's lab at @ArchboldStation #Archbold_birdlab. Fun talks, ideas, conversations and synergy!!
Fun lab birding trip to @CorkscrewSwamp before the annual Florida Scrub-Jay meeting at @ArchboldStation tomorrow

Super proud and excited that postdoc @shailee_shah93 was awarded a @NSF #PRFB and grad student @fayegromero was awarded a NSF #GRFP this week! Huge congrats to them and all other fellowship recipients! 🎉🎉🎉
Newly published paper by myself and @LoganCorina, @DieterLukas, and @popgenchen on the range expansion of the great-tailed grackle, and range stability of the boat-tailed grackle! peercommunityjournal.org/articles/10.24… #TheGrackleProject @PeerComJournal
Powerful and necessary symposium on the legacy of eugenics in #ecology and #evolution by @beansvelocci, @cconaboy, @rvrohlfs, @big_data_kane, @kstsosie, & Michele Markstein at @ASNAmNat #ASN2022 #Asilomar2023, organized by the ASN diversity committee.
Be an active participant in the ASN! The American Society of Naturalists (@ASNAmNat) is looking for nominations and self-nominations to committees that grant awards, organize our meetings, and nominate our officers for elections. 1/2 amnat.org/announcements/…
Hey #Evol2022 there’s extra food in Room 13 (leftover from @ASNAmNat Council mtg) - please come get food!
