I wish that were true. History shows us that it will create a great glut of mediocre work, and will make it more difficult for middle-tier artists to earn a living. It’s less like the printing press and more like the video camera in your phone.

That’s only true to an adequate level of performance. In any given domain there are levels of exceptional performance that cannot be reached without both time and extraordinary talent.

AI art is no different than audio sampling in hip hop. Sampled artists should be compensated. It will probably take litigation to make it happen, but it’s the fair and equitable answer.
