Airborne transmission: a new paradigm with major implications for infection control and public health | OPEN ACCESS Great to be able to collaborate across professional disciplines to write this article. journal.nzma.org.nz/journal-articl…
"Counting the true toll of the Covid-19 pandemic in New Zealand". NZ excess mortality 0-2%, while it was 10% in UK & 11% in US. The elimination strategy & border controls allowed NZers to vaccinate, thus helping to keep the pandemic toll down till 2024. thespinoff.co.nz/society/14-07-…
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: ASHRAE 241, CDC 5 ACH are good, but not good enough, to stop viral 🦠 puffs 💨 . Why? Explained: Science published my eLetter, “Ventilation alone cannot address close-contact airborne transmission: dilution of exhalations is also needed” w/ @RanuDhillon
There is a clear fix for well mixed and close contact: ceiling fans or any other fans like desk fans. Why did 241 ignore this?

As an infectious diseases physician and vaccine specialist, I need to address several serious misrepresentations, baseless assertions, and factual errors in this post. 🧵
My experience working in the Ebola response on 2014 re-enforced a very different lesson than that of the COVID policy wonks, who ran Operation Warp Speed and then the Biden White House Response. That is that vaccines would never be the answer to an ongoing viral outbreak. Just…

It’s been 25 years since I worked in beit sahaur. This thread rings true for me. The situation is worse now than it was in 2000.
Last week one of our members had to leave Bethlehem to attend a wedding. She spent 2.5 hours searching for an unblocked way out of Beit Sahour, Bethlehem, and Beit Jala. Aside from one path beside a military base, Israeli forces had shut down every road in/out of the area. 🧵
Here's the video It's great they covered it bc so many people think long COVID is over - I've sent it to several ppl today cbc.ca/player/play/vi…
A good news story!

It didn’t come up during my oral submission on the Reg Stds Bill but I wanted to respond to a question put to another submitter, querying why te Tiriti should be included when it wasn’t, eg, included in the Bill of Rights Act.
The full letter of the urgent appeal from the priests of Taybeh in the wake of the increased settlers attacks on the village. @GovMikeHuckabee any response about the pleas of your siblings in Christ? This is the result of your "Judea and Samaria" policy: total immunity to settler…
When scientists present their research at a conference, what do their talks look like? Over the past few months, I’ve presented at 3 different international conferences. I’ve been asked to share what I talked about. I've recorded a few, and will upload them to YouTube.
Interesting how COVID-19 in Australia is present in half as many admissions as flu, but in 3x as many <6-month-olds (31% of all child admissions, compared to 5% for flu in this age band) Almost like #COVID19 is a noteworthy disease of the young, with aspects that differ from #flu
