One of my latest research obsessions. In 1947, U.S. servicemen in Japan staged live “reports” of a sea monster attacking Tokyo. I imagine retellings of the hoax are a tad hyperbolic, but it’s a fascinating story — the time postwar Japan was besieged by a monster, before Godzilla!

Norman England's wonderful "Behind the Kaiju Curtain" is on sale now! Get it while it's 19% off and dive into the most in-depth look you could get at being an American on the set of Japanese Godzilla films and beyond! a.co/d/1z7rc3Z

A new English language manga coming from my wife, Miyako!
More information on Miyako Cojima's HELL of the Living Girls coming this month. Maybe even pre-orders 👀👀
Dick Cavett was a huge proponent of Japanese cinema. Akira Kurosawa's first-ever TV appearance which came as a result of our '81 Kurosawa series—then noted as his 1st complete Eng-subbed retro—was on Cavett's show during his visit to Japan Society.
✨ Dick Cavett’s Closet Picks! ✨ The legendary television host reminisces about having Katharine Hepburn and Jean-Luc Godard on his show, shares that he “doesn't see how a movie would get any better” than Stagecoach, and celebrates David Lean and Noël Coward’s collaborations.
Michael Madsen, the rough-and-tumble actor best known for his work in the Quentin Tarantino films 'Reservoir Dogs,' 'Kill Bill: Vol. 2,' 'The Hateful Eight' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' has died. He was 67 bit.ly/4lv1y2N

While in LA hanging with Steve Ryfle, I got to peruse his and Ed's upcoming Godzilla book. It's arguably the most important English-language book on Godzilla. Like my own book on Godzilla productions, it's sourced from the crew and cast—not just an FAQ of stuff found on the net.
