It’s been a fun hot day, time for a wonky pint, Cheers #Ashdownforest

A muddy day with plenty of rain but the dig continued with some nice finds including Samian pottery, a bone hairpin and more amphora with the makers finger marks #Carlisle #archaeology #hadrianswall #RomanBritain

“I am already dreading our final descent into Paris. I already fear the moment that I will glimpse the Eiffel Tower on the last transfer I make to the capital city…” (The Accidental Tour-Ist) This just got real.
The steps leading into the strong room under the headquarters building in the west compound at #Corbridge Roman town. The room would have held the soldiers pay and savings. A building inscription of the 6th legion dated AD192-202 was found inside during excavation. #RIB1163

Loving the coverage by @ITVSport of the #TourDeFrance2025 but mixed with sadness as the tour goes dark next year in the uk, like losing a friend
Microsoft @onedrive is sinking to new depths with every update why do they hate their clients so much. It used to be a great app for photographers but now they’re reduced it to some horrible app for the lowest common denominator #onedrive #Microsoft
Wishing my mate and top Roman expert @SimonElliott20 a happy birthday today 🥳

A section of Hadrian’s Wall west of Gilsland Village before it is lost under the railway embankment at Milecastle 48. The north ditch can just be seen at the centre of the photograph. Rail users between Newcastle and Carlisle can view this section #Hadrianswall

I would also add Cockwombles
The supposed mystification about the Sycamore Gap blokes’ motivation is funny. They’re dickheads. Dickheads is as dickheads does.
Today's the day!! 🎉👇 #TheNightInQuestion is out in PAPERBACK! And I'm thrilled to bits. I hope my beloved #Florrie enjoys every second of her new life xx 🩷💜 (🙏 to @Taffyagent, Sally Williamson, @alisonbarrow, @hanwints and the whole wonderful @TransworldBooks team 💐🌟.)
The #Carlisle Roman excavation has now been backfilled for this session but hopefully funds will be raised to continue the dig soon. It was slightly damper than we would have liked but the finds were amazing. I’ll put together a full excavation video over the next month
In Kendal today and the river Kent is running high after continuous heavy rain #CumbrianSummertime
I know some are desperate for rain but it’s unrelenting here in Cumbria, November has arrived. I’m worn down and need to move one day from this almost constant wet.
A hudd used at burials in the Georgian period so the priest wouldn’t get his wig and prayer book wet at the graveside, St Georges Church Romney Marsh #Kent

I finally got to see Mad Jack Fullers pyramid in East Sussex on a day as hot as Egypt.
I swapped mud for the sunny location of the spiritual home of the pork pie today.

Does anyone know if @EnglishHeritage are supporting their iPhone app anymore? Can’t find it I the store and mine has stopped functioning
We’ve had all sorts of weather thrown at us over the last few weeks but the team have worked on and their faces show what a great experience it is to uncover the past on the edge of Empire #Carlisle #Archaeology #RomanBritain
