From the poet, David Whyte: "Weeping may be the closest experience human beings have to an experience of enlightenment. Because in weeping, you've given up. You've broken down. Whatever control you wanted over the world has slipped out of your hands. Whatever way you wanted to…

i’m so happy that at some point i opted to live in the magical version of the timeline
tfw the synchronicity level goes past uncanny and into hilarious
someone blocked me over this thread lol i’m actually glad it happened because it’s a good reminder that people will find literally any reason to get angry on the internet and i probably don’t need to fret nearly as much as i do about how i’m coming across
i recently fell deeper in love with humanity after accidentally getting to witness an aufguss competition recently walked into the bathhouse & they were like “… and of course you know we’re hosting the national aufguss championships today!” uhh yeah sure i know what that is…

one of the reasons much modern poetry sucks is bc the culture no longer values memorization. meter & rhyme were originally used to make poetry easier to memorize. we don’t have that feedback loop anymore —> ppl write long meandering free verse with completely unmemorable lines

Gonna get into memorising stuff. Once a month I’m gonna try memorise something substantial, like a poem, for no real reason. Next time I’m invited to read a short story at one of those literary reading things I’m gonna recite it off the top of my head. That’s doable.
for the record: i’m not at all opposed to encouraging people to bring reusable mugs to a cafe. reducing single-use plastics seems good i was using this case as an example of the strange feeling of temptation i experienced. it’s not really about the object-level cause
it’s wild how intoxicating virtue signaling is. walked into a cafe whose Whole Thing was reusable cups. they were advertising a whole app that lets you borrow & return metal to-go cups, there was a “community mug bucket” w ceramic mugs you could take to go & return later, etc
