It's not "evil", it's just evidence that if a God exists, it doesn't want a relationship with me enough to demonstrate its existence. If God chooses to hide from a non-resistant non-believer, that's on God.
If you think it's evil, that God doesn't reveal Himself to you more directly, or more persuasively, or in more ways, you're actually presupposing a standard, that this God ought to do this. Well, where are you getting this ought from?

No, God doesn’t give identical opportunities, but He gives perfect justice. Each soul is judged according to the light they received, their conscience, and how they responded. He is not a bureaucrat. He is a merciful and just Judge who sees the heart.

God desires to save all. He knows what any person will do in any and all circumstances. It’s not that God must ensure every person will hear the Gospel, but rather, any person who would accept the Gospel will have the opportunity to hear it and to do so. 1/2
