In this photo from June 16, 54 of 80 stay cables have been installed to support the #PattulloBridgeReplacement. Bridge finishing works are underway, including safety features like the centre median barrier.

Here’s a look at the underside of the bridge deck in @New_Westminster! Taken in late June, this photo shows bridge deck progress – the shaded area on the girders is where deck panels have been installed above.

Take a look at the precast deck panel installation for the bridge’s north approach in @New_Westminster! Deck panel installation over Columbia Street and Front Street is complete. Next crews will add additional reinforcing before pouring concrete to connect the panels.

As part of the #PattulloBridgeReplacement Project, new concrete curbs and paving are being installed for the Royal Ave Multi-Use Path (MUP). MUPs are wide enough so people who are walking, rolling or cycling can share the same path. The Royal Ave MUP is an average of 3m wide!

Come find us at Fridays on Front in @New_Westminster! Our team will be at Front Street Mews to chat with you about the #PattulloBridgeReplacement starting at 6pm tonight. See you there! 😊

Check out our latest flyover video! Bridge deck panels being installed on the north approach in @New_Westminster can be seen, as well as stay cable installation on either side of the bridge tower! In @CityofSurrey, crews can be seen working on bridge finishings.
Here’s a close-up look at stay cable installation! Stay cables are strong cables that connect to the bridge tower and bridge deck to support the structure. They are made up of metal strands pulled through weather-resistant tubing and anchored into place.

In this photo, crews install rebar to prepare for a concrete pour on the south side of the bridge deck. Now that deck panels are installed, rebar is installed before concrete is poured over top, connecting all deck components.

In @CityofSurrey, First Nations artwork is being installed in 2 locations as part of the #PattulloBridgeReplacement. Artwork is already installed on the new Hwy 17/Old Yale Rd overpass, & metal art attachments will soon be installed along King George Blvd.

Here’s a shot of the north approach in @new_westminster! Precast panels are being installed over Front St. Notice how the steel bridge is wider here? This is for the East Columbia off-ramp, a new direct connection from the bridge to East Columbia St.

First Nations artwork is being integrated into elements both on & off the #PattulloBridgeReplacement. Artworks to be installed in @New_Westminster will be on the theme of traditional & contemporary practices of weaving blankets & basketry. Learn more: ow.ly/pPmw50WbOWJ

Additional northbound closures that were thought to be required are no longer needed. There will be no closures on July 2 and July 3.
⚠️ICYMI - #PattulloBridge west/northbound closure will NOT be required overnight on July 3rd. The scheduled work for the replacement project has been cancelled. #BCHwy1A #NewWest #SurreyBC
Here’s a close-up look at preparations for pouring the bridge’s median barrier. The new bridge will be a safer crossing for drivers, with wider lanes and a centre median barrier to separate traffic.

Here’s a close-up view of the “end span” – the final girders installed to connect the bridge deck from Surrey to the bridge tower. At the bottom of this photo, crews are preparing to pour concrete to form the deck surface.

q̓ʷɑt̓icɑ, Phyllis Atkins, is a Kwantlen First Nation artist. Her artwork is embossed into the concrete wall on the NE side of the Hwy 17/Old Yale Rd overpass in Surrey, visible to people traveling under the new overpass. See the full video & learn more: ow.ly/fcyt50WbPLw
This photo was taken on May 5, looking down from above the bridge tower. Can you spot the circles in the sides of the tower? That is where cable stay connections will be made. The bridge tower is 167 metres tall – that’s 50 flights of stairs for workers to climb to the top!

Check out this cool shot looking toward @CityofSurrey from the bridge tower! Crews are working to install concrete deck panels on the last steel girder section on this side, called the “end span.” Once deck construction is complete, roadway will be paved on top.

New artwork is embossed into the concrete wall on the NE side of the new Hwy 17/Old Yale Rd overpass in Surrey. Created by Kwantlen First Nation artist q̓ʷɑt̓ic̓ɑ, Phyllis Atkins, it depicts sturgeon & eulachon, 2 Fraser River fish species. Learn more: ow.ly/pPmw50WbOWJ
