Parish Recluse™️ in Trinitytide
@parishrecluse
I wanted to get a sense of how the organ sounds recorded on an iPhone from further away from the console. Not bad. This won’t be added to my YouTube channel due to the presence of a few flubs, but you can have a quick look round the church while I play.
A nice little outing. Played the organ at the church (and managed to rescue a bird that had somehow gotten trapped inside), followed by a short hike near the local waterfall.
I might have a little something on order… 🥴

Made my occasional pilgrimage to the ruins of Old White Marsh Church, St. Peter’s Parish, south of Easton, Maryland, and to the grave of Rev’d Daniel Maynadier.

The story references my great-grandfather’s first cousins, Louis & Edward McLanahan. That’s Smalltimore for you. newspapers.com/article/the-ba…

Oh, Potato Valley Café, how I love thee.

There was a woman at church today who so closely resembled Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, that I had to look twice to be certain it wasn’t her, though the rural Eastern Shore would’ve been a remarkably strange place to find her.
From the 1689 Liturgy of Comprehension, a proposed replacement for the collect of Trinity V. Based on the epistle of the day, it is a lovely prayer, appropriate for use at any time in Trinitytide.
I still say that Detestable Enormities would make a great band name
Tl; dr I have a problem 🫠
The way I think: Pondered purchasing a new iPhone when I drove back to MD from Philadelphia, as there’s no sales tax in Delaware. Decided against it. Today, I thought, “Hmm, having saved THAT money, I COULD buy that rare book in Annapolis that’s twice as dear as the phone!”

The cathedral here with some strange alterations to the liturgy 🤨 (Reposting due to an earlier typo…)

It was lovely once again to spend a summer evening (carillon concert, food, a bottle of wine, and animated conversation) with @askWallace (and finally to meet @principia_1662!!). It makes the reality of a dearth of like-minded friends elsewhere rather sad.
Austria, in that context, elicits the same giggles that “Maryland, My Maryland” caused due to its being sung to the tune of “O Christmas Tree.”
I get irrationally angry when “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken” is sung to Austria rather than to Abbot’s Leigh, which is much the prettier of the two.
