when they take your words, they also take away your ability to say that you’re different. that way when you say something is derogatory/discriminatory, it lets them say “well I have xyz too, I don’t think it’s a big deal,” even when they don’t know what xyz really is

This recent choice by Mastercard, influenced entirely by a group of reactionary terfs pushing for censorship, is something you should be angry about if you have any kind of interest in art. Censoring anything they deem NSFW is an attempt to prevent queer expression.

this, exactly this. attempting to merge children, teens, and adults into the same online spaces only ends up hurting all groups. separate spaces for each group is far healthier than no spaces or "everyone" spaces.
