Nobody is debating or talking about protesting for the safety of community members. What becomes an issue is the use of nationalism, rhetoric and anti-Black/Indigenous talking points during said protests.

At the end of the day, if you’re on Native lands & your liberation efforts put more importance on the image of preserving nationalism of a colonial state or entity, then it isn’t a liberation effort.

Many people have shown time and time again during these times of ‘fighting colonization’ how easy they will conscious/unconsciously side with the oppressor and use the same rhetoric that they fight against in order to dismiss and ignore Indigenous voices and community members.
