More about the Raiders releasing Christian Wilkins, voiding $35.25 million of his guaranteed money, and the NFLPA filing a grievance on his behalf, via @ryanmcfadden_: espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…
This had been simmering for a while. You could hear the uncertainty in the Raiders’ public comments throughout the offseason.
ESPN sources: Raiders are releasing defensive tackle Christian Wilkins with the designation of terminated vested veteran. His time in Las Vegas is now over. Due to how Wilkins treated the rehab from his foot injury he suffered last season, the Raiders voided the remaining $35.2…
NFLPA had 50 days to file a grievance on behalf of Christian Wilkins after the Raiders voided $35.25 million worth of guaranteed money in his contract on June 4 — $8 million for this year, $27.25 million for next year. The grievance was filed this morning. A legal battle awaits.
#Raiders move on from Christian Wilkins. Extremely rare to see a team issue a statement like this one. Wild and an obvious breakdown in relationship between team and player.
After speaking with a few teams tonight, it sounds like the next step for Christian Wilkins will be taking visits and undergoing physicals with potential suitors. One HC emphasized “He’s not healthy enough to play for the Raiders… Something must not be right”
A doctor on here just posted this today. #Raiders #RaiderNation obviously more details will come out but early on it sure looks like Wilkins didnt want to be here anymore. Also adding in the Raiders statement on it and Ian talking about the refusal to get another surgery.
