This has been out for a minute but... Spent about a year helping put this together w @JoshElstro and @ActionTankUSA. Yes, it's the history of an iconic abandoned building in Cincinnati, but really it's about how our industrial neighborhoods have changed. wvxu.org/podcast/crosle…
In my neck of the woods, these are the people struggling most with property taxes. They are... checks notes... not wealthy It makes sense to oppose certain policies with specific aims. But just saying a whole age group of people should get hosed is wild. wvxu.org/local-news/202…

Yikes. That $6 includes a lot of social security and Medicare, which folks paid into their entire lives. Also I thought we supported people "past their prime productive years" because we're trying to have a lil bit of humanism sprinkled onto our survival of the fittest vibe
We spend $6 on seniors for every $1 we spend on non-seniors at the federal level. At what point is it acceptable to say that we have done enough for this class, who are far past their prime productive years? What else are we going to do for seniors at the expense of everyone else
Anectodal, yes, but I've heard stories from so many people like this. They're not sitting on massive wealth. They just did what they could for themselves. Rent is gonna cost them more w nothing to show for it wvxu.org/local-news/202…

This property tax stuff is a fake crisis in Ohio created almost entirely by the state government being unreliable partners to their local counterparts. And the talk about all the seniors suffering rings hollow when they can sell their house for massive profit.
