From a story structure perspective, boxing/fight movies are compelling because the protagonist is singular & clear, the stakes are high (death), and the antagonizing force is overwhelming — internal doubt & external opponent. It’s very easy to get behind and see yourself in.

Watched Sinners 3 times. Thurs (AMC Metreon 16) Sat (Grand Lake Theatre) Sun (AMC Metreon 16) The Oakland crowd had a completely different personality and really “got it”, laughing out loud. SF crowd a bit quieter. Basically sold out everytime.
