I sort of vaguely knew this, but then you read the words and it's actually jaw-dropping
doing some research on sojourner truth and it's amazing how that white woman changed her original words and dialect in the "ain't i a woman" speech to make her sound like a southern woman when she was a dutch speaker from new york. ridiculous lol
IT GOT UPLOADED
the bagel spot in queens i was eating at had a guy come in and do a google street view 360 photoshoot for it and i gave him permission to leave me in so now i’m gonna be immortalized in the street view of a city i don’t even live in lmao
hard to pick just one!! i love bridgeport, hyde park/kenwood is an obvious pick, chinatown is awesome, south chicago is very underrated as is the area around the south end of jackson park (south shore cultural center/rainbow beach especially!!), and pullman is beautiful
i’m bored today ask me anything ngl.link/north0fnorth
“riding a bicycle” is such a common shorthand for “a complex task your body never forgets how to do” that it makes me wonder what people thought of as the archetypal example of that kind of skill before bicycles were invented
how are there this many people who think any fit guy can beat up a woman who’s a professional fighter. how do they even get through life
Action movies have seriously made women believe they can casually beat up men, and I’m actually scared of what the consequences of that will be.
it’s kinda hilarious in an infuriating way that chicago would be a near-ideal haven from most of the effects of climate change if not for the fact that the planted corn in the surrounding region literally sweats enough to turn hot summer days into deadly wet bulb temperature days
The Corn Belt is expected to be the most humid region in the country this week! A heat dome and corn sweat will cause dew points to surge into the low-to-mid 80s — even higher than Florida. The heat index could reach 115 degrees. Have you ever heard of sweating corn? 🌽
what are we even doing here
Why do they all look like this? What’s going on here?
