Here’s the first look teaser for my debut feature film, Water Girl—a supernatural drama film based on the Ọgbanje mythology, starring @stelladamasus My homage to the authenticity of old Nollywood storytelling while exploring new horizons of modern-day cinema. Coming soon!
Wale Adenuga deserves a lot of credit for shaping our childhood with shows like Super Story, Papa Ajasco, and Binta & Friends. No explicit scenes, just real and relatable stories that stuck with us. The man deserves his flowers for both entertaining and shaping a generation.🎬
Gbam! Especially because of the way he died. Alone. Someone who was once surrounded by men. Someone who once bragged, “I no need you. I no need anybody” #TKAM
didn't like him but this scene broke me sha!!! that moment it dawned on him, even his trusted charm fell from his hand. he died before he died💔
Hey guys, here’s the official trailer for #Revelations, a film produced by Tanya Price and Richard Mofe-Damijo. This is my first performance in a Nollywood Cinema movie and probably the first time people will get to see me act on a bigger platform. In cinemas from August 15 🙏🏾
Exactly. He didn’t want to educate or pass history. The video reeked of spite. And for someone who is supposed to be a thespian, I am gravely appalled. “They romanced the media”..really? Vile. Foolish! Disappointing.
It would have made sense if the video was to educate people about filmmaking in Nigeria— but it seems to be one of those materials that fuels a divide or tribal divide.
Origin of filmmaking and Origin of Nollywood are two different things. Sir Hubert Ogunde wasn’t even the first to start making films in Nigeria. Filmmaking in Nigeria dates back to the 20s. But the birth of “Nollywood” was in 1992 following the success of Living in Bondage. QED!
As a filmmaker, I know acting doesn’t start with fame. It begins the moment you step on stage, join a theatre troupe, or face a camera. Many veteran Yoruba actors like Yemi Solade started in theatre troupes. There's a reason y Herbert Ogunde is called d Father of Nigerian Theatre
set your reminders! My Body God’s Temple is out on YouTube. written, directed by Uzoamaka Power. #MBGT #mybodygodstemple #ZionlovesOma #mybody 🤎
Acting has always been my passion. But lack of opportunity and discouragement drove me into discovering other areas of storytelling. In 2023, God brought this opportunity to me. I was ready. It was a character that I needed in order to heal in real life. Kofi was me! I was him.

Then Glamour girls and Living in Bondage. It’s sad because this man lives on my street, and sometimes when I see him, I wonder if I’m mixing things up.
Exactly. Haynes, in The Creation of Nollywood, agrees that Living in Bondage marked the beginning—not because it was the first, but because it looked the part, moved through proper distribution, and proved Nigerian films could compete. It opened the market. That started Nollywood.
Don’t Joke With This Prayer. May God connect you with people who matter to your purpose🤲🏾
Pete Edochie, one of the living legends. Let's retweet to celebrate him! ❤️
I did not understand the video and what he was saying. I hate it when people tend make things tribal. It annoys me.
Filmmaking in Nigeria dates back to the 50s and 60s. And it’s also a fact that the likes of Sir Hubert Ogunde and the Ogunde Travel Theater made films from their stage performances. However, the concept of “Nollywood” began from Living in Bondage in 1992.
You are right about this. I read this somewhere. I have forgotten the site. I will go and search for it.
“Daybreak in Udi” was a 1949 Oscar winning film shot in Udi Enugu state. “Mark of the Hawk” starring Sidney Poitier and Eartha Kitt was made in 1957 and shot in Enugu. These are all films made in Nigeria but not under Nollywood, likewise everything that came after, until 1992.
Also please which one is “How To Kill A Monkey” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Nigerians are unhinged. #TKAMNetflix
The work of Kenneth Nnebue and NEK productions in birthing what we now know as “Nollywood” would not be thrown away in the abyss of tribal wars. PS: His FIRST produced film was a full Yoruba film titled, “Aje Ni Iya Mi” shot in 1989.
These things are available online. People just want to argue and cause problems. All they need to do is research. I learned about film history in Nigeria in school. I read and studied materials.
We will keep arguing this year in, year out. Even when the answer comes, it will never be documented because we are Nigerians. We don't document things. The next generation will argue this too. Every tribe wants to be at the forefront of things.
